Whaler’s Locker has been long without straight razors, and it’s about time we bring them back! The bone scales feature one-of-a-kind, hand scrimmed art work by local artist Paul Sheldon. Paul is a well known artist in Lahaina and with longtime collectors of scrimshaw. His pieces exhibit extreme detail including ships, sea creatures, and who doesn’t love a majestic bald eagle?
The Damascus straight razor is a unique addition to any scrimshaw collection. It features a stunning high-carbon Damascus blade with a brass pins. The scales are made of polished bone which results in a beautiful contrast to the darker Damascus steel.
The straight razor closed measures approximately 6 3/8”, 8 3/4” open, with a sharp edge about 3” in length.
Because of the higher carbon content the blade will need an occasional oiling. This will keep the integrity of the blade and prevent oxidation.
