Ray Peters has lived and worked on Maui as a scrimshander since the 1970s. In that time, he has honed his craft and creates incredibly detailed pieces of art. Scrimshaw is the only indigenous American art form, aside from Native American handwork.
This image is etched into a warthog tusk and mounted on a hand-turned base made of snake wood with Maui axis deer accent. The tusk measures 3” tall.
