This tooth is from an extinct species of mako shark. The modern mako measures approximately 10 feet in length and swims up 42 miles per hour making it the fastest shark in the ocean. The word mako comes the Māori language and means either a shark tooth or the shark.
This tooth has a deep brown root to with a sandy colored crown. This striking fossil mako tooth pendant measures approximately 1 1/4” from root to tip on the longest edge. The bale is made from heavy gauge gold fill hard wire.
