Baltic Amber is often referred to as a gemstone. However, it is actually fossilized tree resin from pine trees that lived over 40 million years ago, and is now sourced from in region near the Baltic Sea. The legend says that Jurate, daughter of the God of Thunder, lived beneath the sea in a castle made entirely of Baltic Amber. When Jurate finds forbidden love with a mortal, the God of Thunder furiously destroys the castle, kills the mortal, and entraps his daughter in her destroyed palace. Baltic Amber that washed ashore from the Baltic Sea are pieces of the palace, and the teardrop-shaped pieces are tears of Jurate herself.
This shimmering piece of Baltic amber has a deep green coloration packed with shimmering inclusions and set in a frame of .925 sterling silver with a simple silver accent. This pendant measures 1 1/2" by 1" wide. You will receive the exact pendant shown in the images.
