The legend says that Jurate, daughter of the God of Thunder, lived beneath the sea in a castle made entirely of Baltic Amber. When Jurate finds forbidden love with a mortal, the God of Thunder furiously destroys the castle, kills the mortal, and entraps his daughter in her destroyed palace. Baltic Amber that washed ashore from the Baltic Sea are pieces of the palace, and the teardrop-shaped pieces are tears of Jurate herself.
