In traditional Japanese dress, the inro box hung from the obi (belt) of a kimono, on a double cord. At the top of the cord, a large carving called a netsuke (pronounced nets-kay) acted as a toggle to anchor the inro. Our netsuke have authentic double-holes in the base.
These charming and detailed pieces are hand carved out of Japanese Boxwood. The figurines make perfect gifts for yourself or a loved one. Each piece has amazing character that is sure to make people smile.
Skulls definitely carry a dark mystery, a reminder of our mortality and the preciousness of life. In many cultures skulls are used for warning of harm or possible death, but for some they also carry a greater spiritual power.
Many believe that a skull can help you keep away from negative people, energy or situations that can cause you peril. A skull can send a message to others you are brave and can withstand what life throws at you. It is about resilience in life.
The skull measures approximately 1 3/4” long by 1 1/4” tall by 1 1/4” wide. You will receive the skull similar to the one pictured. Each piece is hand carved, so please allow for slight artistic variations.
